Recover Your Deleted Files Folders With Help Of Free Software

We makes lots of mistakes while working on computers. And some times these mistakes costs us lot of problems as well like accidently deleting some important files and folders. But what if their is a solution to this problem at NO COST. Ofcourse their is!!! (This doesn’t mean that now you can delete your brother secret folders :P) Although there is an option in every windows that the deleted files goes to the Recycle Bin. But unfortunately it doesn’t work for external USB drives, USB flash drives, memory sticks, or mapped drives. Files deleted from these drives doesn’t go into the Recycle Bin. But no worries, i have a solution for this.

Recuva (pronounced "recover") is a freeware Windows utility, which you can use to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted from your iPod, or by bugs, crashes and viruses!

Softwares Feature List:-

  • Simple to use interface - just click 'Scan' and choose the files you want to recover
  • Easy to use filter for results based on file name/type
  • Simple Windows like interface with List and Tree view
  • Can be run from a USB thumb drive
  • Restores all types of files, office documents, images, video, music, email, anything.
  • Supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, NTFS5 , NTFS + EFS file systems
  • Restores files from removable media (SmartMedia, Secure Digital, MemoryStick, Digital cameras, Floppy disks, Jaz Disks, Sony Memory Sticks, Compact Flash cards, Smart Media Cards, Secure Digital Cards, etc.)
  • Restores files from external ZIP drives , Firewire and USB Hard drives
  • It's fast, tiny and takes seconds to run!
Learn How to Restore Deleted Files (Step By Step):-

1. I will recommend every user to download Portable version of Recuva, (In that case you don’t have to install it in your PC, just run the software from USB)

2. Once downloaded, extract the zip file on your computer (if you downloaded the portable version) or Run the installation by double clicking the file.

3. After installing it in your pc, double click its icon and you will see the software screen as shown in below screenshot

4. Select the type of file you want Recuva to search for. You can select the last option which is “other” which will show all of the deleted files but by selecting a particular file type will save a lot of time and make it easier to find what you are looking for. After selection, Click “Next

5. Now you have to specify where the file was, which will obviously be up to wherever you deleted it from. After selecting the location, Click “Next

6. The next page will ask you whether you want to do a Deep Scan. My recommendation is to not select this for the first scan, because usually the quick scan can find it. You can always go back and run a deep scan a second time. Click “Start

7. And now, you’ll see all of the files deleted from your drive, memory stick, SD card, or wherever you searched. Just right click any file and select “Recover Highlighted” or tick mark the files which you want to recover and then Recover multiple files all at once.

If you are confused with the large number of results, then you can switch to advance view where you can sort the results by the last modified time, so you don’t have to look through quite as many files.

My Last Words:-
Recuva is really a life saver. People who have faced such situations in past when they deleted some important files, know the importance of such softwares. It’s a Freeware Portable software, which i recommend to every pc user to have it. Do post your suggestion about this software and if you have any other software to recommend, then do post it at below page commenting section.

Backup Your Multiple Email Accounts Locally In PC Including Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail Plus

Backups are the most important thing should be considered once you have a computer and Internet access. There was a time when information was only limited to the local pcs only. But now, our information is scattered everywhere. For e.g: Local PC (including emails, documents, pics, videos etc) , Online Email accounts (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo etc), File and Photo sharing accounts, Social Networking sites (Facebook, Twitter etc) We have put our very confidential, sensitive and personal information everywhere and it has to be backed up by any means before someone hacks your account or any system error or online bug destroys all of your information.

In this regard, last week i posted an article Regular Backup your Online Date Free Including Gmail, Twitter, Flickr and Picasa, which is a must to do thing. Recently i found an interesting and Free software which takes the backup of your email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo Mail Plus, Windows Live/Hotmail, and any service you can connect to via POP or IMAP) and can also back up your local Outlook or Thunderbird archives or a Microsoft Exchange account. This may sound complicated but once the settings are made it is not complicated or time consuming at all.

The software name is MailStore, an easy to use application that connects to your email, take the backup and doesn't bother you. That's what all we want. With the free MailStore Home Portable, you can create the email archive on any USB flash or USB hard drive. Even better: MailStore Home Portable can be started directly from the USB store without any previous installation. This way, you can open and browse your email archive on any computer within seconds. MailStore Home Portable offers all features of the standard version.

List of Features:-

  • Internet mailboxes such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail
  • Any mailboxes using POP3 or IMAP
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000, XP, 2003, 2007, 2010
  • Microsoft Outlook Express and Windows Mail
  • Microsoft Exchange Server and Hosted Exchange
  • Mozilla Thunderbird and SeaMonkey
  • .EML and other email files

Note: If you have enabled Google’s 2-step verification on your Gmail account, MailStore works well with that as well. As Google describes at Here, it is required to set up an application password for every application that tries to access the Google Mail account (e.g. via IMAP). You need to create an application password for MailStore and use that one instead of your user password.

How To Configure Hotmail On MailStore

It will download all of your emails and will show the complete folders tree in your main software screen

How To Configure Yahoo On MailStore

Yahoo Mail does not support Pop3, only Yahoo Mail Plus users (paid account) can enable that feature. It means, a free user can’t backup his Yahoo account with this software.

For Yahoo Mail Plus users, you first have to enable POP3 on your Yahoo account, which you can find under Options -> Mail Options -> Pop & Forwarding.

1. After enabling POP3, open the MailStore software and click Archive Email

2. Click POP3 and use following settings

How To Configure Other Email Accounts

All online email account can be backed up if they support either POP3 or IMAP. For most of the other email accounts, you have to first enable POP3 or IMAP from the email account settings and then configure the MailStore accordingly.

MailStore Home Options:

a. MailStore Home has a searching feature which you can use to search email from your backed up accounts. Using advance search, It is possible to search for any of the following: Subject, Message Body, Attachment contents, sender, recipient, attachment file names.

b. Filters are available to search only specific folders, dates, email sizes, priorities or messages with or without attachments.

c. Emails are displayed right in the main program window from where they can be saved or printed.

d. You can also export archived emails. You can easily export them into desktop email clients such as Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail or Thunderbird, or to an email address via SMTP.

e. The latter option can be used to restore deleted email addresses to the primary email client or web mail client.

My Words:

MailStore Home is an excellent software for home users in order to backup their multiple email accounts. It has so many features to offer at no cost. These all settings may sound too much at the initial stage, but as i said earlier that once you configure this software, rest will be taken care by MailStore automatically. Did you use this software? Do you have any other software which takes backups of email accounts? Do post your suggestions and comments at below page commenting section.
